This was a much harder process than I expected. I still think the names may change down the line, but for now, here’s what we got! I went with the idea that each breed pair could have themed names. And so we introduce you to:
If one of these turns out to be a rooster I think the runner up name was Walter. So far none are really showing roosterish qualities (except that the Araucanas are bigger than the other two breeds). The first chick pictured, Omlette, is the most adventurous. She has discovered she can fit through the fencing on their coop, and regularly runs off, but always comes home. Although it has been raining this week, the weekend was sunny and they had their first ‘free range’ day, outside the cage.
And it must have worn them out! It only took a few hours before they were piled up in the shade, resting from the day. Fortunately they haven’t found the garden yet, nor are they big enough to do any real damage if they did find it. But the coop is close enough to the garden to cause some worry when they get bigger.
